Home Based Business Success

Home Based Business Success

What is your number one goal when starting your home based business? Financial freedom, freedom with your time and of course feeling a sense of accomplishment. How do we obtain these goals. I think that is the question.

– First and foremost understand that obtaining these goals does not happen overnight. If you understand this going in, you can avoid those feelings of doubt when you begin. Trust me at some point, we all feel like – oh boy what have I gotten myself into ….

– Your attitude, persistence and of course the product or service that you are offering. This is another huge aspect in becoming successful. Have a positive attitude. When you have confidence in what you are doing and believe in yourself, this will show in everything that you do. Be persistent don’t give up. If your try one thing and that doesnt work don’t get discouraged move on to your next idea. You will come accross something that works. Finally make sure you do your research on the product or service you are offering. Knowledge is power! When someone asks you a question you want to be able to answer that question and know that you are giving the correct answer. This is very important in building a strong customer base.

– Set realistic goals for yourself – Your first goal is to understand being successful is not going to happen overnight. (We touched on earlier) One of your first goals should be: I want my business to grow each month. Business growth is a sign that your business is becoming successful. This is where you measure your level of success

– Your customer base is probably one of the most important parts of obtaning all of your goals. Remember this – Customers are the key to your success. A committment to meeting your customer needs is key. When starting out, your customers are your best tool in getting the word out about you and your business. An example, when a customer orders from me, I always send out a thank you card along with my business card. This is such an inexpensive way of connecting with your customer. If they are happy with you and your product, they will send business your way

– Creativity – Be creative and unique – There is alot of competition out there. Especially when your home based business is one that several others are doing and wanting to accomplish the same goals as yourself. Set yourself apart from everyone else. Brainstorm ideas. Offer some uniqueness. I will touch more on this in an upcoming article

– Most important love what you are doing. I can’t stress enough how important it is for your customers to believe in you. You are their main source and you represent the product or service you are offering. Always have fun with what you are doing.

What business is best for me?

Would it make sense to you to sell candles if you never burned them or couldn’t stand the smell?

Would it make sense to you to sell fitness products if you’ve never excercised a day in your life?

Would it make sense to you to sell cooking supplies and spices if you always ate your meals out?

We are experiencing an amazing time right now. The direct selling market is booming and the selection of business opportunities is countless. There is no need to “settle” anymore for the 1 or 2 opportunities available.

When you are initially deciding which direct selling company to get involved with, sit down and ask yourself FIRST what is it that you REALLY love. Is it candles? Is it fitness? Is it cooking? Is it “green”? Is it make-up? Only you know the answer to that.

Don’t just jump on the first thing that comes along that looks like it will make you money. In most cases – if you don’t love what you do – it won’t matter!

And don’t get sucked in to what “everyone else is doing”. Again if you don’t like the product, if you don’t already use the product, stay clear and keep looking.

Several years ago I got involved with a “weight-loss” program. I did it because my husband had previously used the product and he thought it was a great company and a great product. In the “big picture” it IS a great product (and company) but I couldn’t sell it to save my life. I had no personal interest in the product and didn’t like the taste of it either. And even thought I spent a LOT of time “working the business” I never made a dime. People could tell it wasn’t my “passion”, they could tell I wasn’t really interested in the product.

Now I know there ARE people out there that can sell anything to anybody. But are you that person? You need to be honest with yourself. Don’t waste your time, don’t waste other people’s time!

With all the direct selling companies out there, you should be able to come up with something that is suitable to you. What do you love? What are you passionate about? Don’t make it harder for yourself then it already is….. match the opportunity with what you love.

With a little bit of research you can find a work-at-home business opportunity and a product(s) that’s right for you!

Why should I work at home?

There are thousands (perhaps millions) of people who have jumped on the band-wagon and have started working at home. And why not, can you blame us? Especially with the economy and unemployment the way it is. It’s seems more and more necessary for the ‘average’ person to start a second job, or just find a primary job working at home.

The advantages of working at home are monumental. First of all, there is no cost to commute. No gas, no tolls, no bus fare, no train fare, nothing. With gas prices skyrocketing out of control that, in and of itself, can save hundres even thousands of dollars over the course of a year!

Additionally, there is no cost for new clothes. You can work in your pj’s, work in your jeans, work in your bathingsuit if you choose. Suits and ties, dresses and panty-hose are SO over-rated. And there’s no cost for drycleaning either. Throw on a t-shirt and a comfy pair of jean and you won’t be annoyed with your pany-hose or your tie for even a second.

(I had a boss ask me one time if I perhaps wouldn’t be a bit more “productive” if I wore a dress. I rebutted asking him if he would rather I spend my time adjusting my panty-hose or listing his product on e-bay…..there was no further discussion!!)

Working at home has the added advantage of no money spent on lunches or coffees or snacks. All the food and drink you could ever need (notice I didn’t say want) is right at your fingertips. Already bought and paid for. Additionally if you aren’t spending your money at a fast food restaurant every day, you are probably not packing on the pound either. So that’s really a win-win!

In addition, for those with children still at home, you can save on baby-sitting. Or not “bother” the in-laws, grandparents, or neighbors to watch your kids. With a little bit of scheduling and practise working at home with kids can be a real advantage for everyone.

So there you have it, just 4 good reasons why you should work at home. And there are plenty others too…I just brushed the surface.

Please let us know what you think the advantages of working at home are! We’d love you get some feedback!
